Switches - FIBER OPTIC Module

FIBER OPTIC Single-Mode, Multi-Mode,Single Fiber and Dual Fiber InterfacesPURVIS Multiport Fiber Optic switch modules are direct fiber-to-fiber switches in which the ends of the fibers are moved into direct alignment. These switch modules are bi-directional, operate independent of data format and data rate; support single or multi-mode interfaces which include FDDI, Fiber Channel, SAFENET and ATM/SONET.

These switch modules are form factor compatible with other PURVIS Multiport Switch modules and slide into the Multiport Switch Enclosure along with a Master Controller Module or Slave Controller Module.

Module Configurations:

  • Single-mode Single Fiber (Simplex) Single Switch
  • Single-mode Single Fiber (Simplex) Dual Switch
  • Single-mode Dual Fiber (Duplex) Single Switch
  • Single-mode Dual Fiber (Duplex) Dual Switch
  • Multi-mode Single Fiber (Simplex) Single Switch
  • Multi-mode Single Fiber (Simplex) Dual Switch
  • Multi-mode Dual Fiber (Duplex) Single Switch
  • Multi-mode Dual Fiber (Duplex) Dual Switch

All modules contain the switch elements, control and status circuitry and back panel connectors that mate to external fiber optic cables.

Operating Features:

  • Single Fiber (Simplex) Switching
  • Dual Fiber (Duplex) Switching
  • Remote computer control
  • Manual control
  • Switch positions maintained on power loss (latching)
  • Switch returns to a default position on power loss (non-latching)

Physical Characteristics:

  • Dimensions Depth: 7.5 inches (18.42 cm)
  • Height: 10.06 inches (25.53 cm)
  • Width: 2.06 inches (6.6 cm)
  • Weight: 2.5 lb. (1.38 kg)

Applications:

  • Reconfiguration of Systems/Equipment
  • LAN Switching
  • Redundancy/Backup
  • Reduce costs through equipment sharing
  • Security
  • Equipment Isolation

Switch Specifications:

  • Insertion Loss 0.9dB typical to 1.5dB maximum
  • Switching Time 15 milliseconds for latching modules
  • Crosstalk -80 dB maximum
  • Durability 10 million cycles
  • Repeatability 0.02 dB maximum for latching module

Note: These switches cannot be internally ganged. Each switch module is a two position A/B switch. Switch modules may be externally ganged; however, insertion losses are additive.
